Since it’s Mosquito Control Awareness Week, I’d like to tell you how easy it is to keep them at bay by using a product that is practically magical. No, there’s no Harry Potter spells involved, but it does work like a charm.
I love being outside. And since I just re-did my backyard, I plan to spend a lot of time there. But if there’s one thing I hate in this world, it has to be mosquitos. With the recent Zika Virus scare, I’m being extra careful about my exposure to these little vampires. I’ve Pinterest-ed the heck out of non-toxic mosquito traps and none of them work as a permanent solution. Surveys show that most DIY methods don’t work.
Then I found Terminix AllClear Mosquito Bait & Kill. It’s a non-toxic spray that works on non-flowering plants and nonporous materials like decking. It’s safe for people, pets, and the environment and will not harm beneficial pollinators like bees and butterflies.
A little bit of science: Mosquitos need plant sugars for energy to fly, to bite, and to mate. They cannot resist eating sugar bait. They die because it’s laced with a deadly dose of garlic. Yep. Just like traditional vampire lore, garlic is the bane of their tiny existence.
The absolute best part in my opinion? Mosquitoes start dying within 24 hours of application and within 2-3 weeks populations as a whole decrease by 90 percent. That includes Aedes and Culex mosquito species. You only need to spray Bait & Kill once every 4 weeks or after heavy rains. It’s long-lasting and low maintenance. I love that I can spray the yard once and essentially be bite free for whenever guests come over for up to a month. No more stressing that the critters are going to attack and ruin the fun.
Because I want you to be able to enjoy the outdoors as much as I do, especially during the 4th of July, we are giving away Bait & Kill packs of two to FIVE lucky winners. Head on over to our Instagram to learn more. You can also pick up Bait & Kill at baitandkill.com, amazon.com, Target or Lowe’s.
